| Boyzone's Gately died of natural causes, judge rules |

THE official investigation into Stephen Gately's death was closed yesterday when a judge ruled the Boyzone star died from natural causes.
Investigating judge Carmen Abrines archived the case three months after the tragedy in Majorca.
The singer's close family, including husband Andy Cowles, were due to be informed of the court's decision last night.
Stephen (33) collapsed and died at the couple's holiday home in Port d'Andratx on the Spanish island after a night out last October.
Judge Abrines ruled on the case after studying police and pathology reports and interviewing Internet tycoon Mr Cowles.
Heart condition
An autopsy had revealed Stephen suffered from an undiagnosed heart condition, atheromatosis, or a thickening of the arteries.
Although the star had drunk heavily and smoked cannabis shortly before he died, these were not factors in his death, the pathologist informed the judge.
In her conclusive report on the tragedy, Judge Abrines, who sits at the Court of Instruction Number 10 in Palma, Majorca, wrote: "I have concluded that the death was due to natural causes.
"At no moment in the police investigation, or in the autopsy, were there any indications of violence."
